Day 2: 30-Day Challenge

Day 2 - The meaning behind your BLOGGER name

Ok, well I wasn't sure if I was being asked to give the meaning behind my actual name or the name of my blog, so here goes both!

My BLOGGER name is:  SCarolinaGrl10
This one is extremely simple.  I am originally from South Carolina, and my favorite baseball player is Michael Young who is #10.  So there ya have it!

The title of my blog is "Learning to Love ME!"

Throughout my childhood, I endured relentless teasing from an individual that I admired so much.  That teasing and harshness stuck with me through my life.  Basically I started believing the horrible things I was being told, and lost sight of loving myself.  After going to great lengths to try and improve all of the imperfections she pointed out, I realized that fixing the outside wasn't the answer.  I needed to fix the inside.  So I'm starting to try and live with a different outlook...one filled with self-love and appreciation for who I am.  This is definitely a work in progress, and I truly hope I will be able to acheive my goal of "Learning to Love ME!"

Is That Your Husband & Spring Training

Today, for the 85th time (ok that might be a little high, but you get the point), someone asked me this question..."Is that your husband?"  The answer is always "No" followed by an explanation of who the mystery man is.

You see, on my computer screen, I just happen to have a picture of myself with a certain baseball player.  Who is he???

Yes...it is Michael Young!  Obviously not my husband!

Now switching subjects to Spring Training!  I am heading to Arizona on 3/7 with my friends Ashley & Rachel.  We will be there for 5 days and have managed to get tickets to 3 games.  It is going to be an absolute blast!  Trust me, there will be PLENTY of pictures from this trip!  We also made t-shirts and I have to share them!

Ashley is showing her love for Moreland!

Of course, I am supporting Young!

Rachel is supporting her future husband, Gentry!

For those of you who don't know Rachel and Ashley, here ya go!
It's always nice to put a name with a face!

Ashley on the left and Rachel on the right.
Ignore the waiter in the background...he isn't going on the trip!

8 Weeks Post-Op Update

I will be 8-weeks post-op on Friday, 2/17.  At this point, I have lost...

55 lbs

The number is okay, but I am more excited about the way I feel.  I no longer feel lethargic!!  I am actually sleeping pretty well too.  My body is changing in so many ways.  Physically, I am dropping sizes quickly.  I don't have any clothes that fit right now, but I don't want to buy anything new yet.  Here are updated pics (Body taken 2/14, Face take 2/15):

I can see and feel definite changes.  My likes/dislikes in regards to food are changing too.  I can no longer eat chocolate.  It makes me VERY nauseous.  I don't consider this a bad thing...I really don't need it anyway.  I liked salad before, but now I love it!  I am also eating eggs more now...I used to hate them!  My goal when eating is to load up on protein and forget about the carbs.

For anyone who ever thought WLS was the easy way out, I say think again!  The surgery is strictly a tool.  I have to work hard every single day to assist in the weight loss process.  So many people have asked, "Would you do it all over again?"  The answer...YES!!
